The Copper Nickel Short Stub End Collar — also referred to as a Short Pattern Stub End or Short Lap Joint Stub End — is manufactured to MSS SP-43 dimensional standards, offering a compact, economical alternative to the long pattern (ASME B16.9) stub end for applications where reduced face-to-face length and lower material weight are priorities. Available in CuNi 90/10 (UNS C70600) and CuNi 70/30 (UNS C71500), the short stub end collar is widely specified for smaller-bore process plant piping, marine piping transitions and cooling water systems.
Despite its reduced overall length, the Short Stub End Collar maintains the full lap face diameter and radius required for correct seating against a mating loose flange, ensuring reliable, leak-tight sealing performance identical to long pattern stub ends. This makes the short pattern an ideal choice wherever installation space is constrained but joint integrity cannot be compromised — a frequent requirement in retrofit and revamp projects on existing marine and offshore piping systems.
